When stress is managed properly it can be used to your benefit. Experiencing threatening or stressful events can help you develop important skills for managing future stress. People who experience stressful situations are able to learn valuable skills by coping with and adapting to such challenges.

Moderate levels of stress can also increase physiological arousal, which is a state of feeling especially physically and psychologically excited. In this state, people have extra energy that can help them perform at their best.

Next time you are feeling stressed, try viewing it as a learning experience from which you can benefit in the future. Harness your response to stress to improve performance on a test, the stage, or the field.
