Read the passage below and then answer the questions.

Sometimes a disease enters remission, which is a period of time without signs and symptoms associated with that disease. Some cancers enter remission after treatment and stay in remission for weeks, years, or indefinitely. The term relapse refers to the recurrence of a disease, in which signs and symptoms return after a period of remission. Certain cancers can leave remission and recur in an even more severe way than before. Exacerbation describes the worsening of signs and symptoms.
