Read the passage below and then answer the following questions.

Some behaviors have an immediate impact on health. For example, wearing a helmet while bicycling reduces the chances of a severe head injury, but 88% of high school teens never wear a helmet while bicycling. Other behaviors have both short-term and long-term effects. Smoking cigarettes reduces your lungs' ability to use oxygen, and makes you susceptible to respiratory infections. Smoking is known to cause lung cancer and increase the risk for heart disease in adulthood. Even so, nearly one in five high school students currently smoke cigarettes. Because smoking is addictive, it is likely that these teens will become adult smokers.
