Fitness and Personal Health
NARRATOR: Feeling tired? Worn down? Stressed out?
STUDENT: Definitely.
NARRATOR: Then you should try... EXERCISE!
STUDENT (confused and intrigued, like she's never heard the word before): Exercise...what's that?
NARRATOR: Exercise is physical activity that improves and maintains your health, such as running, bicycling, or playing a sport.
STUDENT: Sounds interesting. How does it work?
NARRATOR: It's simple. By engaging in physical activity, you strengthen your bones and muscles, improving your overall physical and mental health.
STUDENT: So is it like, a pill I can take or something?
NARRATOR: Nope. No pills. Just any physical activity that gets your body moving and your heart pumping. Like playing soccer.
STUDENT: Soccer?
NARRATOR: Yes. Soccer. A game where you try to kick a ball into a net.
STUDENT: Wow. Exercise sounds complicated and maybe painful.
NARRATOR: It's not complicated at all. It can be as simple as climbing stairs, jumping rope, or jogging around the block. You can actually pick the activity that you enjoy most.
STUDENT: That sounds easy enough. But how will it keep me from being stressed?
NARRATOR: It's simple. Exercise releases chemicals, called endorphins, that improve our mood and mental functioning.
STUDENT: I do like endorphins.
NARRATOR: Then you should run out and try exercise today.
Transition to two students playing a video game
NARRATOR: Hello boys.
STUDENT 1: Who said that?
NARRATOR: Did you boys know that the game you're playing is actually based on a real life activity?
STUDENT 2: No. Really? Madden is for real?
NARRATOR: It's true. Believe it or not, people actually go out and run and throw and catch instead of just pressing a button.
STUDENT 1: But why? Isn't pressing a button easier?
NARRATOR: Yes. But it's not very good EXERCISE. You know: physical activity that keeps you healthy and strong. Like playing football. For real. In the grass.
STUDENT 1: So...like...we would go...like, outside?
NARRATOR: Outside is a great place to get exercise.
Transition to two students talking to each other
STUDENT 1: It's just that I've put on a couple pounds recently and my jeans are getting a little tight, you know?
NARRATOR: Have you thought about EXERCISE?
STUDENT 1: Exercise? What's that?
NARRATOR: Exercise is the perfect way to keep your body in shape and is proven to be an effective way to burn calories and get rid of unwanted fat.
STUDENT 1: Sounds messy.
NARRATOR: It's not. And best of all, you can do it with a friend.
STUDENT 1: Well. In that case, I guess I'll have to try it sometime.
Transition to student climbing up stairs
STUDENT: Every time I climb these stairs, I can barely breathe.
NARRATOR: Sounds like you need EXERCISE.
STUDENT: What's that?
NARRATOR: It's a way to increase your lung capacity and improve your physical fitness, making it easier to do things like climb stairs or run long distances.
STUDENT: Really?
NARRATOR: Of course. But exercise can do even more than that. Regular exercise has been proven to: lower the risk of cancer and heart disease, help maintain a healthy weight, improve mental health, and improve academic performance.
STUDENT: Wow. Exercise sounds amazing.
NARRATOR: It is! And best of all, it's free!
STUDENT: Free?
NARRATOR: It can be. It doesn't cost anything to go jogging or do sit-ups or push-ups. There are lots of ways you can get exercise. But don't take my word for it.
Just ask the people I talked to earlier.
STUDENT: Thanks to exercise, I can concentrate on my schoolwork.
STUDENT: You're right. Exercise really is fun. Thanks, mysterious voice from out of nowhere.
STUDENT: Thanks to exercise, I don't have to go out and buy new jeans. I still kind of want to, though. Just to have new jeans. Thanks, exercise!
NARRATOR: Don't thank it yet. There's more!
STUDENT: There is?
NARRATOR: If you order exercise now, we will throw in SLEEP absolutely free.
STUDENT: Sleep? But I thought that was only for babies and old people.
NARRATOR: Not true. In fact, sleep is absolutely essential to maintaining positive health, even in teenagers.
STUDENT: I got sleep yesterday and I feel good as new.
NARRATOR: I used exercise and sleep together and I feel better than ever.
Act now and we will include not six, not seven, but nine hours of sleep a night. That's right. Nine full hours of sleep with every daily occurrence of exercise. And wait. There's more. If you order exercise today and use it every day, we will give you ten additional years of your life for free. That's right. Order exercise now and receive your nine hours of sleep and your extra years of life for absolutely free. Don't wait. Order now.
EXERCISE! The cheapest way to stay healthy and live longer.
