Cooking Method: Deep Frying
Deep frying is a dry-heat cooking method.
This method cooks food in enough fat to fully cover the food. If too little fat is used, it is difficult to maintain the fat at the appropriate temperature when the food is added for cooking.
The fat is heated before the food is added for cooking. The cooking temperature for deep frying is between 325°F and 375°F, or 163°C and 191°C.
Deep frying is used to cook both large and small pieces of food. Most foods are coated with flour, breading, or batter before being fried.
For safety reasons, it is strongly recommended that foods are fried in a deep fryer rather than in a pot over an open flame and that a fire extinguisher is nearby.
