7: Reproduction Rate of Bacteria Animation Video
Transcript:
Reproduction of Bacteria
When bacteria have their needs for growth met, they can reproduce rapidly. Bacteria have needs similar to humans. Most require water, food, oxygen, time, and favorable temperatures and pH to thrive.
Reproduction begins with a parent bacterium cell.
First, the parent bacterium cell enlarges as it replicates its genetic cell materials.
Next, the genetic materials begin to separate in preparation for division into two cells.
Finally, the cell divides into two identical daughter cells. Each of these cells is a clone of the parent cell.
When conditions are ideal, these cells can divide every 20 minutes.
