  • Vocabulary and Assessment Activities
  •   E-Flash Cards
    • The e-flash card activity offers a complete list of chapter vocabulary terms. This activity is designed to assist in both term-to-definition and definition-to-term associations.

      Functionality

      flip —Tap the e-flash card to flip between the term and definition.

      previous next —Navigate to the next e-flash card by selecting the Previous or Next buttons.

      remove icon —Remove a card you no longer wish to study.

      options menu —Options

      View By—displays cards by term or definition.

      Term Audio—Enables/disables term audio if available.

      Shuffle—Randomly shuffles the order of the cards.

      Reset Card Stack—Replace removed cards and start over using all terms in their original order.

      Apply—Applies selected options to current e-flash card session.

  •   Matching Activity
    • The matching activity offers a selection of chapter vocabulary terms in an interactive format, which is designed to help in term-to-definition association.

      Functionality

      In the text field, enter the letter of each term's corresponding definition. When finished, click the "Check Answers" button.

  •    Pretest/Posttest
    • Test activities offer a selection of assessment questions in an interactive format. The tests are based on key concepts from the chapter and provide an opportunity for self-assessment.

      Functionality

      Select the answer that best reflects the current question.

      next arrow —Select the Next arrow to advance to the next question.

      retry —Upon completion of the test, select the Retry icon to try the test again.

  • File Types
  •   Video/Animated Video File
    • G-W Companion Websites may include video files to supplement their educational content.

      Usage

      The video player has been designed to work with Internet Explorer®, Firefox®, Safari®, and Chrome®. It is recommended to use the most current browser version. If you are using an old version of any of the recommended browsers and are experiencing an issue with video playback, make sure the most current version of flash player has been installed.   •   Activity Files
    • Activity Files can be provided in various formats (DOCX, PPSX, PPTX, and XLSX).

      Usage

      By selecting a individual exercise hyperlink, the browser will open a Save dialog box allowing for the file to be saved to your computer. Upon saving the file, open the downloaded file to review the contents. These types of files will require compatible programs.

      Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer is a free program available for download at https://get.adobe.com/reader/.

  •   Zip File
    • A ZIP file contains one or more files that have been compressed to reduce file size, and/or provide a means to transmit multiple source files in a single downloadable file.

      Usage

      Data files are provided in various formats (DOCX, PPSX, PPTX, XLSX, and PDF). These types of files will require compatible programs. By selecting a ZIP hyperlink, the browser will open a Save dialog box allowing for the ZIP file to be saved to your computer. Upon saving the file, double-click on the downloaded ZIP file to review the contents.
